It's been a few years since the release of the Creature Codex, and many of its monsters have made their way into adventures, homebrews, and even official Kobold Press campaigns.
We figured, it might be about time to change it up a little and give these monsters a bit of a makeover. So we asked designer Mike Welham to deliver variants based on Creature Codex monsters, and to design a few spells and items inspired by them. And boy did he deliver!
17 variant monsters modified from creatures in this project, including the swolbold, drakes, and unhatched
22 new magic items from the Periapt of Proof Against Lies to the Firesight Goggles
26 new spells including mindless vengeance and siege of iron
Plus adventure hooks, 2 feats, and a ranger companion!

It's been two years since the Creature Codex shipped, and now Kobold Press is at it again with a new horde of wildly original, often lethal, and highly entertaining 5E-compatible monsters to challenge and surprise your players. New Monsters & the Underworld

We’re reaching out to let you know about our latest Kickstarter: Empire of the Ghouls, an adventure on a classic theme that ports well to any homebrew with an underdark and undead presence--and one that uses creatures from the Codex plus new monsters.
Empire of the Ghouls is a new campaign from levels 1 to 13 that includes new undead magic, a detailed tour of the Ghoul Empire, more than 20 new monsters, and unforgettable villains. The Kickstarter campaign also has a new Underworld Player’s Guide full of options for playing Underworld races such as derro and drow, and it includes a new Lairs book full of short, stand-alone encounters set in the dark reaches of the Underworld, but not part of the core campaign.
Almost 20 stretch goals have been unlocked so far.
